菲律賓海岸防衛隊（Philippine coast guard）今（4）日表示，該國漁船在南海黃岩島（Scarborough Shoal）附近遭一艘「身份不明的外國商船」撞毀，造成包括船長在內的3名菲律賓漁民死亡，讓南海爭議地區的緊張局勢再度升溫。
《CNN》報導，根據海岸防衛隊聲明，被撞的菲律賓船隻為FFB Dearyn，一名船員告訴當局，海上碰撞發生在2日凌晨4時20分左右，船上共有11名船員倖存，並於3日上午搭乘該國船隻上岸，包括船長在內的死者被送往該國最大島嶼呂宋島（Luzon）北部的邦阿西楠省（Pangasinan province）。
菲律賓總統小馬可仕（Ferdinand Marcos Jr.）表示，海岸防衛隊正在「追蹤並檢查該地區所有受監控的船隻」，承諾將追查到底。

南海是一條面積達130萬平方英里的水道，對國際貿易至關重要，估計每年有1/3的全球航運經過，價值數兆美元，行經該處的船隻包括大型貨輪和油輪。許多國家都聲稱擁有南海主權，且北京不顧2016年國際法院裁決，聲稱擁有整個南海的所有權。過去20年來，中國佔領了南海沿岸部分珊瑚礁和環礁，建造了包括跑道和港口在內的軍事設施。
