A Bitcoin mining operations group in Taichung, Taiwan will be indicted on charges of aggravated theft for stealing 1.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from Taipower, costing the state-owned enterprise nearly NT$77 million. The group, led by a man surnamed Huang, was discovered through five rounds of investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau’s crime prevention division. The division seized stolen electricity equipment, Bitcoin mining machines, and illicit gains totaling over NT$80 million.
