Taiwan Taxi Company has clarified that all fees charged to its drivers comply with regulations and have been reported to the responsible authorities. The company defended itself against recent allegations of unlawfully collecting excessive profits from drivers. It stated that all charges are transparent and published on its website. Among the controversial charges are fees for corporate invoices, Easycard processing, and duties. Accusers also claimed that drivers are required to install televisions in their passenger seats to play advertisements, including those featuring actress Ruby Lin, on behalf of Thermage FLX, without receiving compensation. Taiwan Taxi stated that it is undergoing a digital transformation and developing new platforms, with the vehicles’ media players serving functions beyond playing advertisements. The company reassured its drivers that the digital transformation would not increase management costs for them, emphasizing that their monthly charge has not been raised in nearly 20 years.

The Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) has announced that it will now accept credit card payments for on-board ticket upgrades, push-cart sales, and station bento counter services. Passengers can also use their Easycard or iPASS to purchase items from the pushcart and high-speed rail bento boxes. However, THSR advises that Easycard and iPASS are only suitable for small payments, and on-board ticket upgrades should be paid for with a credit card or cash. Furthermore, THSR will be introducing a new hot beverage called ＂Taiwan Sugar Highland Small Farmer Coffee＂ on January 1, 2024. This coffee, made with beans from the Guatemala Antigua region, will be available from the first to the seventh day of each month, while illy coffee will be served on other days. THSR also cautions that unstable internet connections on board may cause credit card transactions to fail and asks for passengers’ understanding.

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an expresses gratitude to Taipei First Girls High School (TFG) for nurturing generations of remarkable women on the occasion of the school’s 120th anniversary. Chiang attends the unveiling ceremony of the newly restored Kuang Fu Building, a historic landmark on the TFG campus. The Taipei City Government contributes over NT＄100 million to support the restoration project. Chiang recalls his previous visit to TFG, where he interacted with the TFG Honor Guard and Marching Band. He humorously mentions that as a student at Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School, he admired TFG from outside its gates, but now as mayor, he can visit and engage with the school. Chiang also highlights a collaboration between TFG and EasyCard Corporation, resulting in a commemorative ’TFG 120th Green Uniform EasyCard’ that plays the school’s anthem upon use. EasyCard Corporation will donate 10% of the cards’ revenue to charity. TFG’s anniversary activities attract a diverse group of alumnae, including those from 70 years ago and mother-daughter pairs, as well as alumnae from Chiang’s own graduation year.

Taipei Metro agrees to refund a fine imposed on a teenage girl who mistakenly used her brother’s EasyCard. The 14-year-old student used a child’s EasyCard instead of a student card, resulting in a fine of NT＄1,000. The girl’s father argued that the punishment was excessive, and after reviewing the situation, Taipei Metro decided to refund the penalty as a gesture of goodwill. The incident occurred at Ximen MRT Station, and Taipei Metro emphasized the importance of using the correct card type to avoid fare differences.

遠東旗下的電子票證，遠鑫電子票證股份有限公司，Happy Cash有錢卡，自民國111年1月1日凌晨0時起終止臺鐵局乘車及加值服務。台鐵表示，旅客仍可持用悠遊卡(EasyCard)、一卡通卡(i-pass)、愛金卡(icash)等電子票證乘車扣款及加值。如旅客於12月31日持Happy Cash有錢卡進站乘車，出站時已跨日至1月1日，將無法扣款出站，需依所搭乘之車種以現金補票，不再享電子票證乘車優惠，建請改使用悠遊卡、一卡通或愛金卡。
