TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The 'Orange Devils', Kyoto Tachibana High School's band, arrived in Taiwan on Thursday afternoon (18 Dec.), ready to begin their performance schedule. The students were full of excitement at the airport, happily waving and greeting reporters. They stated that they had prepared several new pieces for this tour, approximately five brand-new arrangements, hoping to offer Taiwanese audiences an unforgettable performance.

A 250-member musical ensemble will perform a flash mob parade in Taipei's Ximending (西門町) on Thursday (Dec. 18) at 7:40 p.m., marking the first collaboration between two renowned student bands from Taiwan and Japan. The "2025 Taiwan Expedition: Sound the Friendship, Dance the Youth" event aims to foster cultural exchange through this unprecedented performance in Japanese wind music history.

The Emerald Knights (翡翠騎士), a renowned Japanese student band from The Second High School, Tokyo University of Agriculture (日本東京農業大學第二高等學校), arrived in Taiwan on Wednesday (Dec. 17) to join forces with the Orange Devils (橘色惡魔). The two bands form a 250-member ensemble that promises an unprecedented performance in the history of Japanese wind music.

Secretary General Lee Hou-ching (李厚慶) of the General Association of Chinese Culture (中華文化總會), a cultural promotion organization, expressed excitement over the collaboration, stating the two schools have maintained regular communication following National Day performances. Lee noted the partnership aims to foster friendship between Taiwan and Japan after the bands performed at Taiwan's National Day.

The New Taipei City Juang Jing Vocational High School (台灣莊敬高職) marching band will also participate in the event, further strengthening Taiwan-Japan cultural ties through this artistic display. The Emerald Knights last visited Taiwan in 2023 for the National Day celebrations, while the Orange Devils made appearances in 2022 and 2023. The three bands will showcase exceptional talent during the parade.

Music enthusiasts eagerly await the spectacle on Thursday evening, which promises to showcase exceptional talent and deepen the friendship between Taiwan and Japan through this unique musical collaboration. Attendees can find more details about the parade route and event schedule on the General Association of Chinese Culture's official account. ◼
