TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Legislator Puma Shen (沈伯洋) rejected claims of orchestrated leadership behind a recent recall campaign, calling it a citizen-led movement Tuesday (Nov. 25). Shen responded to comments by Rosalia Wu (吳怡農), founder of Forward Alliance (壯闊台灣), and Enoch Wu (吳怡農), former National Security Council staff, who aims for nomination in the Taipei mayoral by the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP, 民進黨). Wu said a day earlier that the recall campaign showed a disconnect between strategists' predictions and actual outcomes.
Shen dismissed the notion of a mastermind behind the recall, saying he never encountered any strategists during his involvement. The legislator praised civic movements and urged attention to the Nationality Act (國籍法), government revenue allocation law revision, Constitutional Court (憲法法庭) controversy, and recall rights. Shen spoke at a DPP caucus press conference at the Legislative Yuan (立法院), Taiwan's parliament.
DPP legislator Rosalia Wu (吳思瑤) expressed respect for Rosalia Wu's (吳怡農) candidacy style and said the party would nominate the strongest candidate. Wu reiterated the recall campaign was a collective civic effort to safeguard Taiwan's democracy with no single leader. The legislator acknowledged the unsuccessful recall, saying the DPP must refine local operations, deepen organizational structures, and improve electoral strategies. ◼
