TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Meteorologists warn three Pacific tropical depressions will intensify into typhoons within one week, threatening regional weather patterns. Tropical Depression TD20 approaches typhoon status Thursday (Sept. 18), while TD21 follows closely behind. Experts urge vigilance as TD22 could develop into a typhoon by Friday (Sept. 19).

The Facebook page "LookWeather" (觀氣象看天氣) reported three tropical depressions formed within two days, each capable of evolving into typhoons. A tropical disturbance east of the Ogasawara Islands transformed into TD22 early Thursday (Sept. 18), with meteorologists expecting three typhoons to develop within the day.

Chia Hsin-hsing (賈新興), director of Taiwan Integrated Disaster Prevention Engineering Consultant Co. (台灣整合防災工程技術顧問公司), predicts TD20 will become a typhoon Thursday (Sept. 18) and head toward Guangdong, China. He noted TD21 might develop by Friday (Sept. 19), requiring close trajectory monitoring.

TD22 could strengthen into a typhoon by Friday (Sept. 19), potentially impacting Japan according to forecasters. Chia explained typhoon circulation might bring showers to Yilan, Hualien, Taitung, and mountain areas from Monday evening (Sept. 22) to Tuesday (Sept. 23), with brief showers possible south of Tainan. ◼
