TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a striking display of Taiwan's technological prowess, electronics manufacturer Pegatron (和碩) revealed an AI-powered robotic dog at the COMPUTEX trade show in Taipei on Tuesday (May 21). The quadruped machine, designed for disaster relief operations, can transport payloads of up to 50-60 kilograms (110-132 pounds) and operates for 8 to 12 hours on a single charge, company officials said.
Making its debut appearance at the prestigious technology exhibition, Pegatron adopted the theme "TECH MAKER" to present its diverse portfolio spanning AI computing, smart mobility, next-generation communications, beauty technology, and health assistance solutions. Tung Tzu-hsien (童子賢), the company's chairman, emphasized that advanced machinery requires three critical components: intelligence, power capacity, and sensory capabilities. During his presentation, Tung revealed ambitious visions for future robotic developments, including mechanical versions of camels and elephants.
"AI technology is rapidly penetrating across industries," Tung told attendees, calling for Taiwan's technology sector to forge stronger collaborative partnerships to accelerate both innovation and practical commercial applications. The Pegatron chairman projected significant optimism about the immediate future, describing the coming five to ten years as "a golden era" for the integration of artificial intelligence with smart machinery. ◼
