TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Weather experts urged residents to brace for continued rainfall as a front lingers near Taiwan on Thursday (April 24). The front will gradually weaken and move away, but central and northern regions should still prepare for rain in the morning. The rain is expected to ease later in the day, while the south will experience mostly cloudy skies with some sunshine.
A new front or cloud and rain area from South China will impact Taiwan from Friday to Saturday, according to Weather Risk Company (天氣風險公司) analyst Ou Tsung-hsueh (歐宗學). The central and northern regions will feel the effects more significantly, with predictions of limited rainfall but the potential for sudden heavy showers.
Ou emphasized that the northeast monsoon will bring cooler weather, with temperatures in the north reaching only 21-22 degrees Celsius, while central and eastern areas will see 26-28 degrees, and the south will experience 28-30 degrees. He also highlighted that the South China cloud and rain area will begin to depart on Sunday, leaving behind moisture.
The northeast monsoon will weaken, causing temperatures to rise, and most areas will see predominantly cloudy weather with chances for brief afternoon showers, especially near mountainous areas. A new front will pass on Monday, bringing higher rain chances to central, northern, eastern, and southern mountainous regions. The unstable weather this week suggests carrying rain gear when heading outdoors.
