TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨) think tank deputy director Ling Tao (凌濤) criticized Minister of the Interior Liu Shyh-fang (劉世芳) on Monday (April 21) for allegedly orchestrating a police raid on the KMT's headquarters. He accused Liu of targeting KMT Chairman Eric Chu (朱立倫) and questioned if the raid was a result of political bias.

Ling claimed that Liu's actions exemplify the ruling party's misuse of judicial and state departments to suppress opposition. "This is evidence of prosecuting the KMT while ignoring the Democratic Progressive Party's (民進黨) actions," he said. Ling expressed frustration over the lack of investigations into past DPP protests while the KMT faced scrutiny.

The controversy stems from allegations of the KMT's involvement in alleged fraudulent signatures on petitions seeking to recall legislators from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨). Liu stated that the Taipei City Police Department's evidence collection prompted plans to summon Chu, KMT Legislator Hsieh Lung-chieh (謝龍介), and KMT spokesperson Yang Chih-yu (楊智伃) for questioning. Ling argued that the KMT stands firm against the ruling party's alleged intimidation tactics.

Ling emphasized that Chu remains committed to standing with the people, ready to confront the ruling party's purported arrogance. The ongoing investigation continues to raise questions about the fairness of law enforcement and its implications for Taiwan's political landscape.
