TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) of Taipei has expressed "grave concern" after a city government employee was caught allegedly recording people in a restroom at City Hall, the Department of Education reported Wednesday (April 17). The mayor demanded immediate action and emphasized his administration would show zero tolerance for such violations of privacy.

Officials received an alert Wednesday afternoon about the disturbing incident that occurred on City Hall's eighth floor, where the suspect allegedly used a mobile phone to secretly film restroom occupants. Department personnel quickly detained the individual and secured evidence before police arrived to implement isolation protocols, safeguarding the workspace and preventing potential contamination of evidence.

In response to the violation, authorities have initiated an employee care program providing psychological counseling to affected staff while formally documenting the incident through an official communication. Mayor Chiang has directed a comprehensive security review of all municipal facilities and mandated increased inspection protocols throughout City Hall. The administration seeks to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to workplace dignity as investigators pursue the case that has raised significant privacy concerns among Taipei's civil servants. ★
