TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan will bask in sunshine Wednesday (April 16) as temperatures climb to seasonal highs, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署), Taiwan's national meteorological agency. Western regions will experience temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius (86°F), following a notably chilly morning. Residents of Hsinchu and Miaoli counties woke to temperatures below 13 degrees Celsius (55.4°F), a result of overnight radiative cooling.
Daytime temperatures will climb significantly, reaching 29 to 30 degrees Celsius (84.2-86°F) across western Taiwan and 26 to 27 degrees Celsius (78.8-80.6°F) in eastern regions, creating pleasant spring conditions. Taiwan's outlying islands will experience milder temperatures: Penghu between 21 and 26 degrees Celsius (69.8-78.8°F), Kinmen ranging from 17 to 25 degrees Celsius (62.6-77°F), and Matsu between 16 and 23 degrees Celsius (60.8-73.4°F).
The weather bureau forecasts a weather front approaching Taiwan's northern waters by Saturday, bringing scattered showers and possible thunderstorms to northern regions. The meteorological system will progress southward by Sunday, potentially triggering brief precipitation across central and northern Taiwan, northeastern coastal areas, and mountainous terrain in the south.
By Monday, precipitation will likely be limited to Taiwan's northern and northeastern regions, according to meteorologists. Weather patterns will shift again Tuesday as another front approaches, affecting central, northern, and northeastern areas with scattered showers and potential thunderstorms. The weather administration advises residents to monitor forecasts and adjust outdoor activities accordingly as spring weather patterns remain dynamic. ★
