TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The 2025 Spring Island Beach Festival (2025旗津春島沙灘音樂季) will transform Kaohsiung's coastal district of Qijin (旗津) into a pulsating center of music and entertainment when it kicks off Thursday for a three-day celebration along Taiwan's southwestern shoreline. Festival organizers have curated an international lineup of performers, featuring acclaimed DJs from the United States, Canada, and Japan who will bring their distinctive sounds to this picturesque island setting connected to Taiwan's second-largest city by ferry and underwater tunnel.

The festival, co-hosted by the Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau (高雄市觀光局), the city's official tourism promotion agency, and the popular Cijin Sunset Bar (旗津沙灘吧), will offer 1,000 free daily admission slots to eager attendees. This generous arrangement invites music enthusiasts to experience world-class performances against the backdrop of crashing waves and golden sands. In an ambitious expansion from previous years, the 2025 event will debut an innovative dual-stage design, allowing for continuous performances showcasing a diverse musical palette ranging from energetic Latin rhythms and laid-back reggae grooves to cutting-edge international hip-hop tracks during the festival's daily operating hours from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

In addition to the contemporary beats of the beach festival, Kaohsiung will simultaneously celebrate its rich cultural heritage with the 2025 Neimen Song Jiang Battle Ritual (高雄內門宋江陣), a traditional Taiwanese martial arts performance with historical roots dating back centuries. This cultural showcase will run from Thursday to Friday in the rural Neimen District, offering visitors a striking contrast to the modern music festival. The event will feature elaborate displays of traditional folk arts and an array of local culinary specialties that highlight the region's gastronomic traditions. The cultural festivities will reach their climax with a grand martial arts competition at the historic Shunxian Temple (順賢宮) on Saturday, followed by a spectacular fireworks display illuminating the night sky over Shengmu Lake during the weekend.

Families seeking entertainment options during the festive period can take advantage of free entry for children under 12 at Shoushan Zoo, a special promotion running from Thursday to Sunday. The zoo's special program, "Shoushan Fun Adventure" (壽山童趣大冒險), promises an engaging and educational experience for parents and children alike in this hillside animal sanctuary overlooking the city. Speaking about the city's broader tourism vision, Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau Director-General Kao Min-lin (高閔琳) highlighted ongoing municipal efforts to enhance tourist infrastructure throughout the region. She noted that the city government has prioritized improvements to visitor experiences in both the Qijin island district and the increasingly popular Love River Bay (愛河灣) area, with significant developments planned for the coming years to accommodate growing tourist numbers.
