KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) announced on Tuesday (Jan. 21) that the 2025 Kaohsiung Wonderland (高雄冬日遊樂園) will feature an exciting opening event: Five elite athletes will lead the popular Japanese IP, Chiikawa, into the port aboard a luxury yacht.
The event will kick off on Saturday at 2 p.m. next to the Kaohsiung Music Center (高雄流行音樂中心). This year's festival highlights Chiikawa as the main attraction. A large inflatable installation will debut, and the band Accusefive (告五人) will engage with the public as ambassadors.
Mayor Chen noted that Olympic shooter Wu Chia-ying (吳佳穎), TSG Hawks pitcher Chen Po-ching (陳柏清), cyclist Huang Ting-yin (黃亭茵), Olympic weightlifter Kao Chan-hung (高展宏), and powerlifter Hsieh Tsung-ting (謝宗庭) will participate in the yacht-led procession.
During the event, Chiikawa will be displayed at Love River Bay (愛河灣), surrounded by a pier amusement park, family art performances, and a food market offering diverse entertainment and culinary experiences.
The festive atmosphere promises to attract visitors and showcase Kaohsiung's cultural and recreational development commitment.
