TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) addressed a police report in the Legislative Yuan (立法院) on Tuesday (Feb. 25), questioning the opposition's significant budget cuts despite increased budgets for the six special municipalities and local governments.
During the report, He questioned the necessity of the budget cuts, noting that without new items, the budget would remain the same as last year, urging lawmakers to support the NT$3.1325 trillion expenditure budget.
Cho emphasized the importance of the executive-legislative relationship and called for unity. This call for unity came amid protests from Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨) legislators, who held signs labeling the administration as a "lying government" and "fraudulent rule." They symbolically boycotted the session by walking out.
Moreover, Cho addressed the "Health Taiwan policy" (健康台灣政策), responding to hospital congestion issues. He announced plans to promote integrated inpatient care services and expressed regret over the inconvenience in medical services. Cho revealed the central government's total budget for the year at NT$3.1325 trillion, an increase of NT$280.6 billion from last year, due to new policies and programs.
