TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Organizers of the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers (世界棒球經典賽資格賽) released 25,000 additional tickets available from noon on Monday (Feb. 24), which sold out immediately. The tickets for the final Taiwan vs. Spain game on Tuesday have been met with strong enthusiasm from fans, and a complete clearance of the sales is expected by 3 p.m.
Originally, only a limited number of seats were available due to uncertainty about Taiwan's participation. However, once confirmed, a surge in ticket demand followed. Organizers, following Taiwan's game against Nicaragua on Sunday (Feb. 23), announced the additional ticket release, pricing all seats at NT$500.
Taiwan's previous matches drew large crowds, with 35,325 attending the game against Spain on Friday (Feb. 21), 35,868 against South Africa on Saturday (Feb. 22), and 35,565 against Nicaragua on Sunday (Feb. 23). Taiwan's team has a record of one win and two losses, defeating South Africa 9-1 but losing to Spain 5-12 and Nicaragua 0-6. Nicaragua, undefeated in three games, has already secured a spot in next year's World Baseball Classic.
The upcoming match against Spain offers Taiwan a final opportunity to qualify. Fans eagerly anticipate the high-stakes game, hoping for a victory that would secure Taiwan's place in the prestigious tournament.
