TAINAN (TVBS News) — Tainan (台南市) unveiled a massive inflatable mascot, Sababoy (魚頭君), along Anping Canal (安平運河) to kick off a unique water-based exhibition from Tuesday (Jan. 21) to Feb. 12. Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) previewed the 14-meter-long and 6-meter-high inflatable last Sunday, inviting the public to explore its charm from both land and water.
Mayor Huang encouraged residents and tourists to snap photos with Sababoy from the shore or take a canal boat tour for a closer look, adding that visitors can also explore seven other attractions featuring Tainan's popular mascots, including Sababoy and Peang Niau (巷仔Niau).
Tainan Tourism Bureau (台南觀旅局) Director Lin Kuo-hua (林國華) highlighted the exhibition's all-day accessibility, with evening lighting from 5-10 p.m. Lin also pointed out the surreal "Time-Space Waterfall" (時空-瀑布) installation nearby, inviting visitors to enjoy the sights and Tainan's culinary delights, such as milkfish dishes and local snacks.
During the exhibition, the Tainan Tourism Facebook page encourages attendees to upload photos with Sababoy, and share a favorite Tainan dish or attraction. Participants can enter a drawing for a Sababoy-themed gift bag filled with exclusive merchandise, promising a prosperous year ahead.
