TAINAN (TVBS News) — The annual "Longci Light Festival" (龍崎光節), renowned as the "most beautiful mountain forest festival in the country," will illuminate Tainan (台南市) starting Saturday (Dec. 28) until Feb. 16, 2025. Now in its sixth year, the festival drew nearly 100,000 visitors last year, generating over NT$5 million in ticket sales.
Tainan's Cultural Affairs Bureau Director Hsieh Shih-yuan (謝仕淵) emphasized the festival's theme, "Rebirth of Flame and Earth," which encourages a rethinking of art performances amid the clamor to foster new energy. This year, the festival invited West Design (西屹設計) to curate, collaborating with 11 creators, including artists Lee Kuan-yi (李冠毅) and Liang Lai-chang (梁賴昌), to craft 13 artworks with local communities and universities.
For the first time, the festival integrates fluorescent painting with projection animation to create an immersive day-and-night experience, incorporating local revitalization concepts to deepen Longci's beauty in people's hearts. Collaborating with 44 Record Store (四四拍唱片行), the festival will host seven music parties starting Jan. 5, blending electronic music with light wave designs to showcase the power of land rebirth.
To enhance the viewing experience, this year's event requires tickets, priced at NT$50 on weekdays and NT$100 on weekends, allowing unlimited entries during the exhibition period. In collaboration with the ibon ticketing system, the city government has introduced package deals and high-speed rail services for visitors. Longci residents, children under 6, seniors over 65, and people with disabilities with one companion can enter for free by presenting identification.
