TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Peggy Chen (陳珮琪), the wife of Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) former chairman, announced on Monday (Jan. 6) plans to file a lawsuit within 24 hours over allegations related to political donations. The Taipei District Court (北院) has detained Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) on corruption charges. Dr. Hsu Fu-shun (許富舜), who once campaigned for Ko, accused him of taking political donations home, sparking public interest.
Liberty Times Net (自由時報) reported a day earlier that Cheng Shu-hsin (鄭淑心), the former fundraising committee executive director, claimed that campaign funds were handed over to Chen, and donors did not receive receipts. Chen intends to sue Hsu and Cheng for aggravated defamation and seek civil compensation. Through Vicky Chen (陳智菡), director of the TPP legislative caucus, she demanded evidence from Hsu to verify the allegations, stating she had never heard of such accusations.
In a Facebook post, Chen revealed she has authorized her lawyer to send a formal notice in preparation for the lawsuit.
