TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Media reports on Friday (Jan. 3) indicated the number of ETF listings rose to 66, beneficiaries reaching 4.15 million people by the end of 2024, marking a historic high. The first half of 2024 witnessed a buying frenzy for high-dividend ETFs, propelling the market to its peak. However, volatility in the Taiwan stock market in the latter half led to a decline in some ETF dividend payouts.
Despite these challenges, statistics from investment trusts revealed that 10 Taiwan stock ETFs recorded a record number of beneficiaries by the end of 2024. Among these, the Capital Tip Customized Taiwan Select High Dividend ETF (群益台灣精選高息00919) emerged as the year's most popular, with a beneficiary increase of 616,800 people. The Fubon FTSE TWSE Taiwan 50 ETF (006208 富邦FTSE TWSE台灣50 ETF) followed closely, adding 309,900 beneficiaries.
Of the 10 ETFs with record beneficiary numbers, seven were high-dividend types, and six offered quarterly payouts, underscoring investors' continued preference for high-yield ETFs. As Taiwan's ETF market evolves, investors and analysts will likely monitor these trends closely. The growing interest in high-dividend and quarterly payout ETFs suggests a shift in investment strategies, potentially shaping the market's future dynamics.
