KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — Kaohsiung (高雄) has become a focal point for global fans of the popular Korean series "Squid Game" (魷魚遊戲) as it gears up for the second season's promotional activities. The character Young-hee Doll (英熙娃娃) made an early appearance at Kaohsiung Port on Wednesday (Dec. 18).
The giant inflatable doll, initially set for a Saturday reveal, made an early appearance at Pier 17 as organizers tested and positioned it at the port, sparking online discussions with its mix of cuteness and eeriness. Observers watched it transform from a deflated state into its iconic form, capturing the scene and sharing it on social media. Comments ranged from humorous remarks about its spooky presence to excitement about visiting the site.
Netflix will host the "1.2.3. Kaohsiungers" (1.2.3. 高雄人) event on Saturday to celebrate the series' Dec. 26 release. The event promises a pink-themed party and a drone light show, with the highlight being the unveiling of the world's largest Young-hee Doll. Activities will take place at the Kaohsiung Music Center / Coral Zone (高雄流行音樂中心珊瑚礁群).
The event will kick off at 10 a.m. with the doll's sea debut, followed by a gathering of pink guards at 5:30 p.m., which will lead to the doll's activation and a drone show. As anticipation builds, Kaohsiung Port prepares to welcome fans and reach the event's climax.
