TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Baseball player Chan Tzu-hsien (詹子賢) has opted for loyalty over a lucrative opportunity, announcing on Thursday (Dec. 19) that he will continue with the Chinatrust Brothers (中信兄弟) for his 10th season. Despite receiving a compelling offer from the TSG Hawks (台鋼雄鷹隊), which included a five-year contract with an average monthly salary of at least NT$800,000, Chan remains committed to his current team.
The Chinatrust Brothers respect Chan's decision and plan to discuss contract details further with his management team. Since graduating from Chinese Culture University (文化大學) in 2016, Chan has played a crucial role for the team after being selected as a second-round pick. In the previous season, he played 94 games, hitting .255 with one home run and 28 RBIs, marking a personal low in home runs.
Having reached free agent status at the end of the season after accumulating eight years of experience, Chan had initially expressed his intention to explore the free market. The Chinatrust Brothers remain optimistic about his decision to stay and are hopeful for a favorable outcome in their negotiations.
