TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Legislative Yuan's (立法院) Transportation Committee (交通委員會) made headlines on Thursday (Dec. 19) by cutting NT$10 million from the Aviation Police Bureau's (APB, 航警局) budget. This financial decision demands a detailed written review report before releasing the funds, following the disarray at Taoyuan International Airport (桃園國際機場) during Team Taiwan's return from their WBSC Premier 12 victory on Nov. 25.

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) Legislator Lee Kun-tse (李昆澤) proposed strengthening security measures at the airport to prevent similar occurrences. After discussions, he initially suggested a NT$100 million budget cut but agreed to reduce it to NT$10 million. Lee demanded that APB submit an improvement report within a month.

APB Commissioner Chiu Wen-liang (邱文亮) acknowledged the management lapses during the team's return. He attributed the issues to last-minute route changes and workforce adjustments. Chiu is committed to implementing improvements to address these shortcomings.
