TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) announced on Monday (Dec. 9) that the Executive Yuan (行政院) will establish a grievance platform this week to protect civil servants' rights amid increasing reports of workplace bullying. Premier Cho emphasized that this platform will allow affected employees to voice their grievances under the highest protection, ensuring their basic human rights are upheld through legal and administrative mechanisms.
Cho also pointed out that bullying extends beyond the civil service, highlighting concerns within the legislative sector. He stated that if bullying manifests as shouting, yelling, or table-pounding, the legislature must conduct a thorough review. Cho asserted that while the Executive Yuan should be subject to legislative oversight, it should not face unreasonable bullying from the legislature.
Recently, Cho expressed distress over witnessing discourteous and irrational behavior among legislators, including verbal abuse. He mentioned that while legislators should engage in debates and address issues factually, no one should endure unreasonable verbal treatment. Cho called for a cultural shift, suggesting that the Executive Yuan lead by example through internal investigations and administrative and legal actions. He expressed hopes that the society will also offer open and fair evaluations to ensure everyone receives fair treatment at work.
