TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) emphasized on Friday (Oct. 4) the need for a unified approach between the Presidential Office and the Executive Yuan to pass the proposed central government budget for fiscal year 2025.

Premier Cho attributed the avoidable delay in budget approval to Typhoon Krathon's impact, and expressed hope for a meeting with Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) next week to discuss the issue.

The budget impasse continues as Han initially planned a dinner with the Executive Yuan and party caucuses on Friday evening. The Executive Yuan requested a postponement due to the typhoon's aftermath.

Cho highlighted the ongoing hardships, particularly in southern Taiwan, where many areas still struggle with water and electricity supply, causing widespread anxiety.

Cho noted the Executive Yuan's communication with the Legislative Yuan on Thursday, prioritizing disaster relief efforts over the planned dinner. He suggested rescheduling the dinner to focus on assisting affected areas.

Meanwhile, Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) Legislator Huang Kuo-chang (黃國昌) downplayed the dinner's importance, urging Premier Cho to allocate the budget legally to resolve the deadlock.
