TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Cross-Strait CEO Summit (兩岸企業家峰會) kicked off on Monday (Dec. 9) in Xiamen, China, with the goal of fostering economic integration between Taiwan and mainland China through industrial cooperation. Song Tao (宋濤), director of China's Taiwan Affairs Office, is set to read a congratulatory message, while Liu Chao-shiuan (劉兆玄) and Guo Jinlong (郭金龍), chairmen from Taiwan and China, respectively, will attend the event.
Under the theme "Building Cross-Strait Industrial Chains for the New Era, Promoting Cross-Strait Economic Integration and Development," (打造兩岸新時代產業鏈 促進兩岸經濟融合發展) the summit gathered notable Taiwanese figures, including Vice Chairman Steve Chen (陳瑞隆), Secretary-General Yiin Chii-ming (尹啟銘), and industry leaders Richard Lee (李詩欽) and Chairman Paul Hsu (許舒博).
Woody Duh (杜紫軍), a former minister of economic affairs, will lead the energy and environmental efficiency cooperation group, while Steven Chan (詹啟賢) will chair the biotech and healthcare group. The summit's agenda features five keynote speeches, such as "Reorganizing Global Supply Chains under Anti-Globalization: The Semiconductor Industry as an Example" (反全球化下全球供應鏈之重組:以半導體業為例).
In the afternoon, industry leaders and experts will engage in in-depth discussions during thematic forums or visits. On Tuesday morning, groups will tour companies like TPV Technology (冠捷顯示科技), United Microelectronics Corporation (聯芯集成電路製造), and Huawei's (華為) developer innovation center.
