TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Mobile (台灣大哥大) CEO emphasized Taiwan's crucial role in the AI ecosystem during the D.E.E.P. Tech Day 2024 (台灣大哥大2024硬科技日) event on Tuesday (Nov. 19). Taiwan Mobile CEO Jamie Lin (林之晨) recently returned from the APEC summit in Peru and highlighted Taiwan's strengths in chip manufacturing, servers, and liquid cooling technology.
Lin explained that Taiwan's technological capabilities are integral to the global AI supply chain. Lin warned that even a tiny component shortage could halt the supply chain, underlining Taiwan's importance. "Without Taiwan, there is no AI," the CEO addressed Taiwan's crucial role in global AI development.
Lin also addressed the policies implemented during Donald Trump's presidency, noting their orderly execution. He predicted these policies would continue, and Taiwan's tech industry is prepared to respond. Lin pointed out that Trump's term restructured the world order, making Taiwan a significant beneficiary. He expects the core interests of Taiwan and the U.S. will remain stable over the next four years.
Reflecting on his experience as an APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) representative, Lin observed the shift from free to fair trade. He stressed the importance of technology in bridging the digital divide. Lin's insights underscore Taiwan's pivotal position in global technology and its strategic partnership with the U.S., setting the stage for future developments in the AI landscape.
