TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — Yang Yung-wei (楊勇緯), a silver medalist in judo at the Tokyo Olympics, visited Taichung City Neipu Elementary School's (台中市內埔國小) judo team Monday (Nov. 18), alongside the chairman of the Hong Dow Sports Development Foundation (宏道運動發展基金會). They aimed to support young athletes at the school.
Lin Hong-dow (林鴻道), chairman Hong Dow Sports Development Foundation, has consistently focused on sports groups in under-resourced areas, advocating for equal access to sports resources, particularly for rural school teams. Yang, a role model in the judo community, provided technical guidance and shared his journey to inspire students to pursue their athletic dreams courageously.
Yang encouraged the students by stating that a steadfast belief can help them face future challenges even if the path ahead is challenging. The Hong Dow Sports Development Foundation hopes this event will promote balanced sports resource development across Taiwan, offering more children care and support.
During the visit, Neipu Elementary's judo team received tangible assistance, which helped the school improve its athletes' competitive skills and allowed the children to focus on their dreams. The initiative reflects a broader commitment to nurturing young talent and ensuring that sports opportunities are accessible to all students, regardless of their background.
