TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The head of Quanta Computer (廣達) expressed optimism on Friday (Nov. 15) about the economic prospects following Donald Trump's inauguration, citing the potential for growth driven by technology. Quanta Chairman Barry Lam (林百里) shared his views at National Taiwan University (NTU, 國立台灣大學) during the institution's 96th-anniversary celebration.
Lam, a notable figure in the tech industry, had previously criticized his alma mater, NTU's Department of Electrical Engineering (台大電機系) in 2011 for its lack of innovation. When asked Friday if he still held that opinion, he responded with a thumbs-up and a smile, saying, "It's really impressive." Quanta, a leading supplier in artificial intelligence (AI), collaborates closely with chip giant NVIDIA (輝達). The company achieved record revenue and profit in the third quarter, with earnings per share reaching NT$4.32.
Quanta anticipates triple-digit growth in AI server revenue next year, continuing to expand its facilities in Thailand, the U.S., and Europe. The company's capital expenditure reached approximately NT$8.6 billion in the first three quarters, with an annual estimate of NT$10 billion to NT$12 billion. In 2025, Quanta plans an initial capital expenditure of around NT$12 billion to meet AI-related infrastructure demands.
