TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) presided over a military honors ceremony on Thursday (Nov. 14), emphasizing the ongoing enhancement of Taiwan's air defense capabilities. Lai highlighted the importance of leveraging the expertise and experience of three generals to modernize and innovate the Air Force, boosting the nation's military strength.
Lai appointed Gen. Liu Jen-yuan (劉任遠) as a military strategy advisor to the president (總統府戰略顧問) and awarded him the Order of Resplendent Banner (二等雲麾勳章) for his exceptional contributions as the Commander of the Air Force (空軍司令). Meanwhile, Gen. Cheng Jung-feng (鄭榮豐), who succeeded Liu as the Commander of the Air Force, received the Order of Precious Tripod (三等寶鼎勳章). Lai commended Cheng for strengthening national defense by overseeing various military training exercises.
Gen. Huang Chi-wei (黃志偉) has been promoted to chief of staff executive officer (副總長執行官) at the General Staff Headquarters (參謀本部). Lai noted Huang's role as one of Taiwan's first F-16 seed instructors trained in the U.S. and his successful completion of the F-16V fighter jet commissioning during his tenure.
