TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) expressed gratitude and excitement during his inaugural participation as president at the Taipei International Travel Fair (ITF) on Friday (Nov. 1).
President Lai acknowledged the presence of ambassadors, representatives, and exhibitors, appreciating their efforts in preparing for the event.
He addressed the ITF 2024 opening ceremony, emphasizing the government's vision of establishing Taiwan's identity through tourism. He highlighted the importance of promoting the sector in an environmentally friendly manner, focusing on energy efficiency and international cooperation.
President Lai stressed that tourism is a vital soft power and a robust diplomatic tool, requiring collaboration across different sectors and regions. He urged the public and private sectors to work together, maintaining close cooperation between central and local governments to enhance the quality and marketing of deep and unique travel experiences.
