TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Typhoon Yinxing (銀杏) intensified into a strong typhoon on Thursday (Nov. 7) afternoon northeast of Luzon Island (呂宋島), marking the fifth severe typhoon of the year. The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) forecasts that Yinxing will enter the South China Sea on Friday, posing no direct threat to Taiwan. However, Yinxing's outer circulation is expected to approach Taiwan from Thursday evening to Friday, bringing significant rainfall to the northern and eastern regions.

Meanwhile, the Greater Taipei (大台北), Yilan (宜蘭), and Hualien (花蓮) areas may experience localized heavy rain, while the northeastern region should brace for torrential downpours. The latest data from the CWA shows Yinxing moving west at 11 kph, with a central pressure of 935 hPa. The typhoon's maximum sustained winds reached 51 meters per second, with gusts up to 63 meters per second. The storm's radius extends 180 kilometers for the seventh-level winds and 70 kilometers for the tenth-level winds.
