TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's badminton ace, Tai Tzu-ying (戴資穎), received her appointment as the nation's youngest ambassador-at-large on Monday (Oct. 7).
President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) extended the invitation to Tai, who will assist in promoting Taiwan's foreign relations. Although initially unclear about her duties, Tai expressed excitement about the new role.
Tai realized that her ambassadorial tasks align with her usual activities. Tai explained that she let everyone see Taiwan through her fighting spirit on the court. She noted that many overseas Taiwanese attend her matches and introduce her as a player from Taiwan to foreign friends.
Eager to embrace new challenges, Tai is committed to representing Taiwan across various fields, especially sports. She hoped to use her influence to nurture the next generation and improve Taiwan's sports environment.
