TAIPEI (TVBS News) — As Typhoon Krathon (山陀兒) approaches Taiwan, Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing Co., Ltd. (臺北農產) advised residents to prepare curry rice as a storm meal on Tuesday (Oct. 1).
The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) issued a warning at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 2), reporting that the typhoon's center is about 160 kilometers southwest of Kaohsiung, moving north-northeast to northeast.
The typhoon may make landfall on the southwest coast tonight or early Thursday (Oct. 3). Residents have flocked to supermarkets, emptying the produce sections.
Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing suggested ingredients include potatoes, onions, carrots, meat, curry blocks, and rice, which are easy to store and cook.
They also recommended adding vegetables like pumpkin, broccoli, tomatoes, eggplant, and baby corn, as well as mushrooms, for a more flavorful dish.
For a richer curry, Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing suggested adding a bit of chocolate to enhance the overall flavor. To diversify the dish, they proposed incorporating canned corn, meat sauce, or tuna as side dishes.
The weather administration noted that Typhoon Krathon has stalled in the past three hours and continues to move north-northeast to the northeast. The storm's intensity is expected to weaken, but its path remains uncertain, depending on whether it gets pulled by the northern system, potentially prolonging its stay.
Residents should stay updated on the typhoon's progress and prepare accordingly, as its impact could extend over the next few days.
