TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency (林業及自然保育署) suspended operations in national forest recreation areas, forestry railways, and mountain lodges on Tuesday (Oct. 1) due to the impact of Typhoon Krathon.
Typhoon Krathon is slowly moving northeast across the southwestern coast of Taiwan and will impact the island until Friday. Against this backdrop, the agency warned that heavy rain and localized torrential downpours will affect mountainous areas across Taiwan, urging people currently in the mountains to descend as quickly as possible when it is safe.
In preparation for potential traffic disruptions, the agency has completed inspections and typhoon preparedness tasks, including evacuations, shelter arrangements, and supply plans.
The agency also advised the public to avoid mountain areas unless necessary.
