TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kinmen Airport (金門航空站) announced on Tuesday (Oct. 1) the cancellation of all domestic flights the next day, due to the potential impact of Typhoon Krathon (山陀兒), urging travelers to stay updated on flight statuses.
Domestic flights faced 85 cancellations, and 141 ferry services to outlying islands were suspended on Tuesday. While high-speed rail services operated normally, Taiwan Railways' South Link Line (南迴線) halted all day, and east coast trains on the Hualien-Taitung and North Link Line (北迴線) also stopped.
West coast trains faced partial service cuts, with southbound trains from Changhua suspended in the afternoon.
The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) reported that Typhoon Krathon's storm circle has expanded, affecting Hengchun Peninsula, Pingtung, Taitung, and Kaohsiung. The storm now threatens areas south of Yunlin, Hualien, Taitung, and Penghu, moving north-northeast at 7 kph.
"True Typhoon Information" (用事實說颱風), a meteorological Facebook page, predicted that the typhoon would make landfall by Wednesday evening, delaying the onset of wind and rain in northern Taiwan.
