TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei Commercial and Cultural Office in Argentina (駐阿根廷臺北商務文化辦事處) announced on Tuesday (Oct. 1) its goal to promote Taiwan's beauty and foster tourism collaboration with Argentina. This announcement came as Taiwan participated in the 28th International Tourism Trade Fair of Latin America (FIT) from Sept. 28 to Oct. 1, showcasing its rich and diverse culture.
Taiwan's booth, designed under the Tourism Administration's (觀光署) new brand concept "TAIWAN-Waves of Wonder," featured iconic elements such as Jade Mountain (玉山), Taipei 101 (台北101), indigenous peoples, and temples. The setup included cultural tourism consultations, Taiwanese snack tastings, bubble tea making, whiskey tasting, and Taiwan totem painting.
Local expatriates offered calligraphy services, writing visitors' names in Chinese on bookmarks, which sparked curiosity and long queues. Argentine congresswoman Marilú Quiroz visited the booth, sharing her travel experiences in Taiwan and praising its safety and comfortable lifestyle.
This year's FIT, one of the world's four major travel exhibitions, attracted over 50 countries. The event featured new thematic areas for outdoor leisure, cuisine, and cruises, drawing tourism professionals and visitors worldwide. The exhibition, expected to surpass 120,000 attendees, saw a record number of exhibitors, expanding by 14% compared to the previous year.
