TAIPEI (TVBS News) — CommonWealth Magazine (天下雜誌) on Monday (Sept. 30) released its the results of the 2024 County and City Survey, highlighting Pingtung County Magistrate Chou Chun-mi (周春米) as the most improved leader, advancing from an "excellent" to a "benchmark" leader.
Nantou County Magistrate Hsu Shu-hua (許淑華), Miaoli County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin (鍾東錦), and Lienchiang County Magistrate Wang Chung-ming (王忠銘) also joined the ranks of excellent leaders.
The survey noted that agricultural counties, including Chiayi, Pingtung, Taitung, Yunlin, Nantou, and Miaoli, almost entirely dominated the benchmark and excellent categories.
Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) narrowly outperformed Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen (盧秀燕), becoming the best-performing mayor among the six major cities this year.
Meanwhile, Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an (高虹安) remained at the bottom for the second consecutive year after being suspended due to a sentencing by the Taipei District Court.
Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng (張善政) ranked in the commendable group, and Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) showed slight improvement in the sprint group.
Notably, Kinmen County Magistrate Chen Fu-hai (陳福海) experienced the most significant decline, dropping from the excellent to the commendable group.
Hualien County Magistrate Hsu Chen-wei (徐榛蔚) faced her lowest satisfaction rating in six years due to transportation disruptions caused by an April earthquake and subsequent typhoons, which hindered the return of tourists.
The survey revealed that the public prioritizes economic and environmental issues, significantly impacting satisfaction with county and city governance.
CommonWealth Magazine's survey, conducted by its research center, involved telephone interviews from July 10 to Aug. 25, with 14,762 successful samples collected.
