TOKYO (TVBS News) — Taiwan's pavilion earned second place for its captivating booths and detailed travel information at the Tourism EXPO Japan 2024 (TEJ), which concluded on Sunday (Sept. 29). Over 1,200 exhibitors from around 80 countries and regions participated in the event at Tokyo Big Sight.
TEJ, which opened on Sept. 26, featured Taiwan's largest-ever presence with 66 booths. Exhibitors included travel agencies, hotels, leisure farms, and representatives from Keelung City, Yilan County, Hsinchu County, Hsinchu City, Nantou County, Tainan City, Miaoli County, and the Alishan National Scenic Area Headquarters (阿里山國家風景區管理處). Major airlines such as China Airlines (華航), EVA Air (長榮), Starlux Airlines (星宇), and Tigerair Taiwan (虎航) also participated.
Cheng Yi-ping (鄭憶萍), director of the Tokyo-Tourism Administration (觀光署東京辦事處), accepted the award and emphasized the significance of TEJ as Japan's largest travel expo. She shared that This year, Taiwan's theme was "Travel, an Encounter with New Perspectives" (旅行,是一次與新價值觀的邂逅).
The Tokyo-Tourism Administration highlighted a visitor from Kanagawa Prefecture who has visited Taiwan six times and plans to return to Kaohsiung and Taichung next month. The expo showcased various attractions and activities from northern, central, southern, and eastern Taiwan, with friendly staff embodying the spirit described by this year's Taiwan tourism ambassador, Satoshi Tsumabuki (妻夫木聰), who stated that Taiwan is a safe and relaxing travel destination.
