TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese table tennis stars Lin Yun-Ju (林昀儒) and Kao Cheng-Jui (高承睿) advanced to the men's singles quarterfinals on Thursday (Sept. 12) at the WTT China Smash.
Lin defeated Sweden's Anton Kallberg 3-0, while Kao overcame China's Lin Gaoyuan (林高遠) with a 3-1 victory.
Cheng I-Ching (鄭怡靜) also qualified for the women's singles quarterfinals after a nearly 37-minute battle against Thailand's Orawan Paranang.
Lin Yun-Ju will face the winner of the match between Japan's Harimoto Tomokazu (張本智) and China's Lin Shidong (林詩棟) in the next round. Cheng I-Ching's next challenge will be against China's Wang Manyu (王曼昱), who is currently ranked third in the world.
