YUNLIN (TVBS News) — Yunlin County (雲林縣) will host the National Day fireworks in 2024. To ensure safety and smooth operations during the event, the county government has announced measures for a test launch, including traffic restrictions beginning at midnight on Wednesday, (Sept. 11).
The National Day Preparatory Committee (國慶籌備委員) has scheduled a test launch at 8 p.m. on Sept. 13 in Yunlin's Huwei High-Speed Rail Specific Zone (雲林虎尾高鐵特定區). The three-minute test will feature 1,205 fireworks, drawing anticipated crowds.
Authorities will enforce traffic controls around the launch site to test the fireworks' placement and fallout. The fireworks launch control zone will be blocked from midnight on Sept. 11 until noon on Sept. 12, while the operational control zone will regulate traffic and parking from Sept. 11 midnight until Sept. 13 midnight.
The county government urged residents to reroute in advance, warning that illegally parked vehicles will be towed to four public parking lots within the Huwei High-Speed Rail Specific Zone.
Meanwhile, Yunlin County Commissioner Chang Li-shan (張麗善) recommended 11 viewing spots, including New Huwei Softball Field (新虎尾壘球場), Huwei Night Market, and nearby elementary schools.
