TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Executive Yuan (行政院) convened its inaugural advisory panel meeting for the planned sports ministry (體育暨運動發展部) on Monday (Sept. 9).
Renowned athletes, including badminton player Lee Yang (李洋), boxer Lin Yu-ting (林郁婷), and retired tennis player Lu Yen-hsun (盧彥勳), attended the session.
The preparatory committee for the planned sports ministry invited 47 experts and sports figures to join the advisory panel.
The initial list features weightlifter Kuo Hsing-chun (郭婞淳), table tennis player Chuang Chih-yuan (莊智淵), judoka Lien Chen-ling (連珍羚), archer Lei Chien-ying (雷千瑩), tennis player Hsu Yu-hsiou (許育修), and Paralympic badminton player Hu Guang-chiou (胡光秋).
Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) emphasized leveraging the advisory members' expertise to understand sports' current state and development. He also promised to integrate that expertise into future policies, benefiting the next generation of athletes.
Cho and President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) recognize the importance of developing the sports industry, underscoring that the planned sports ministry enjoys the highest bipartisan consensus.
