HSINCHU (TVBS News) — Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) on Friday (Sept. 6) praised the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI, 工業技術研究院) and scientists for laying the foundation of Taiwan's technological development and showcasing Taiwan to the world.
Hsiao expressed her gratitude during the ITRI Laureate Ceremony, where she awarded NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) online.
Hsiao also highlighted her recent interactions in the U.S. with three ITRI laureates, GlobalWafers (環球晶) Chairperson Hsu Hsiu-lan (徐秀蘭), Acer (宏碁) Chairman Jason Chen (陳俊聖), and Taichung Veterans General Hospital (台中榮民總醫院) Superintendent Chen Shih-ann (陳適安). These individuals have significantly contributed to AI development.
Hsiao emphasized ITRI's pivotal role in Taiwan's technology sector, noting its long-term impact on incubation and technology transfer.
The vice president also addressed the complexities of the current global political and economic environment. She remarked on Taiwan's position at a significant historical turning point amid the global AI revolution.
