TAINAN (TVBS News) — Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) attended the opening of the 2024 Creative Expo Taiwan (CET, 文博會) at the ICC Tainan Exhibition Center on Monday (Aug. 26), expressing gratitude to participants for enriching Taiwan's soul and showcasing modern Taiwanese confidence to the world.
The expo, held in Tainan for the first time, integrates cultural curation with a commercial exhibition. Hsiao remarked that this arrangement allows visitors to appreciate the depth of Taiwanese cultural topics while exploring the commercial exhibits.
Hsiao emphasized that history has often been recorded by rulers, but in a modern democracy, reflecting on the past and looking forward must be done from the perspective of ordinary people. She advocated for a comprehensive view that includes every profession and individual to chart a confident future.
Culture Minister Li Yuan (李遠) also highlighted the expo's theme, "PÓ-TÓ PAH-BĪN," (寶島百面) meaning "The World's Taiwan and Its Many Faces," as a fitting description of Taiwan's diverse culture and the confidence of its people. Li described the theme as representing Taiwan's multifaceted culture and symbolizing the confidence of Taiwanese people in their cultural identity.
This year marks Tainan's 400th anniversary, and the expo has already reached a historic milestone with 570 creative brands and 700 booths participating.
