TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) Chairman Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) on Monday (Aug. 12) held a press conference to address recent allegations of falsified political donation records, explaining that an error in the Control Yuan's (監察院) registration should not have occurred, but nonetheless promised to correct the data swiftly, emphasizing, "We won't let anything get us down."

Ko has faced scrutiny for potentially falsifying accounts during his presidential campaign. Allegations include unclear financial flows involving Muko Public Relations Marketing Co., Ltd. (木可公關行銷有限公司) amounting to NT$13 million, and non-existent accounts totaling NT$9,164,311 claimed by Nilux and OCT Entertainment Co. Ltd. companies. Additionally, Timelimited Co., Ltd. (蒔間有限公司) received NT$10 million shortly after its name change, and office renovation costs of NT$13 million and profits of NT$770,196 from the "KP SHOW" concert were all transferred to Muko.

During the press conference, Ko expressed shock over the Control Yuan's erroneous political donation reports, admitting that he was also nervous about the wrongful situation.

He acknowledged the support from small donations, stating that these contributions allowed the party to sustain its campaign efforts. Ko insisted that all expenditures had proper documentation and were used for election-related activities, assuring that no funds went into personal pockets.

Ko candidly admitted that this presidential election marks the TPP's first attempt, revealing the party's inexperience.

He vowed, "We will continue with our work hard in the future and will not be defeated by any setbacks," signaling a commitment to overcome challenges and improve in future endeavors.
