TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Fans enthusiastically greeted Taiwanese table tennis players Lin Yun-ju (林昀儒) and Chen Szu-yu (陳思羽), along with their coach, on Saturday morning (Aug. 10) as they returned to Taiwan from the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
Officials from the Sports Administration (體育署), Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee (CTOC, 中華奧會), and Ministry of Education (MOE, 教育部) welcomed the team members at the gate. Lin and Chen, who took EVA Air flight BR88 and landed at Taoyuan International Airport at 6:44 a.m., were met with flowers, handmade signs, and cheers from fans.
EVA Air ground staff also held handwritten signs and a banner reading "Our TEAM, We Support" (我們的TEAM,我們支持) as the athletes entered. They also chanted, "Welcome home, pride of Taiwan. EVA Air is proud of you" (台灣之光,歡迎回家。長榮航空以你為榮), showing their pride in the returning athletes.
According to Sports Administration data, 18 individuals, including players, coaches, and support staff, returned on Friday. The warm reception highlighted the nation's pride in Taiwanese athletes' achievements.
