PARIS (TVBS News) — Breakdancing will debut at the Olympic Games in Paris on Friday (Aug. 9). Bojin Chen (陳柏均), a renowned Taiwanese breakdancer, has taken the global helm for this event.
Chen has dedicated years to making this dream a reality, starting preparations seven years ago at the Youth Olympics. He officially became the head of the Olympic breakdancing event two years ago. "As long as I get to see my favorite breakdance make it to the Olympics, it's all worth it to me," Chen said.
He has worked tirelessly with breakdancers and associations worldwide, setting competition rules and selecting judges. Chen expressed his hopes, saying he wants to dedicate this effort to Taiwan and the world.
Chen said that the event will feature dancers from five continents, each showcasing unique styles. Chen noted that America, the birthplace of breakdancing, will likely present more traditional B-Boy styles. In contrast, Asian dancers will excel in technical aspects.
Taiwanese representative Sun Chen (孫振) will compete on Aug. 10. The judges' list will be announced soon.
