PARIS (TVBS News) — Taiwan's women's archery team secured a decisive victory against the U.S. team in the round of 16 elimination match, advancing to the quarterfinals with a score of 5-1 on Sunday (July 28).
The match saw Lei Chien-ying (雷千瑩), Chiu Yi-ching (邱意晴), and Li Tsai-chi (李彩綺) deliver impressive performances. The U.S. team took the initial lead, but Taiwan's archers quickly responded. Chiu, Lei, and Li each took their turns, resulting in a 53-53 tie after the first set, with both teams earning one point.
The Taiwan team then surged ahead in the second set, scoring 55 to the U.S. team's 52, bringing the score to 3-1. In the final set, Taiwan clinched the victory by scoring 54 to the U.S. team's 48, earning two more points and ensuring their place in the quarterfinals.
Taiwan will face South Korea in the next match, aiming for a spot in the semifinals.
