PARIS (TVBS News) — The Olympic Games Paris 2024 archery ranking rounds saw Taiwan's men's team finish fifth and the women's team ninth on Thursday (July 25).
The men's archery team scored a combined 1,992 points, with Tai Yu-hsuan (戴宇軒) and Tang Chih-chun (湯智鈞) both scoring 665 points. Tai secured 24th place with 33 arrows, hitting 10 points, while Tang followed in 25th place with 29 arrows, hitting 10 points. Lin Tzu-hsiang (林子翔) ranked 32nd with 662 points.
The team will face the U.K. in the first round and China in the quarterfinals. If they advance, they are expected to face South Korea, who are aiming for their third consecutive Olympic team gold, in the semifinals.
The women's archery team also performed well, scoring 1,926 points. Lei Chien-ying (雷千瑩) led the team with 652 points, ranking 29th. Li Tsai-chi (李彩綺) scored 646 points, securing 40th place, and Chiu I-ching (邱意晴) ranked 53rd with 628 points.
The women's team will compete against the U.S. in the first round. If successful, they will face South Korea, which has won nine consecutive Olympic team golds, in the next round.
Taiwan and the Netherlands scored 1,317 points in the mixed doubles event, tying for 16th place. They will have a shoot-off on July 27 to determine the final spot in the competition.
