TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Chan Yung-jan (詹詠然), 34, will compete in her fourth Olympic Games, partnering with her sister Chan Hao-ching (詹皓晴) at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The sisters aim to surpass their previous best Olympic finish of reaching the quarterfinals.
The tennis events will take place at Roland Garros Stadium, the main venue for the French Open. Taiwanese player Hsieh Su-wei (謝淑薇) has confirmed her participation, teaming up with 20-year-old Tsao Chia-yi (曹家宜), while Chan Hao-ching has chosen her sister, Chan Yung-jan, as her partner.
Chan Yung-jan stated that this will be her last Olympic appearance and expressed gratitude for her sister's choice. She shared that competing with her sister in the Olympics is a rare opportunity, akin to the New Taipei Kings (新北國王隊) brothers Jeremy Lin (林書豪) and Joseph Lin (林書緯) playing together at P. League+.
Chan Yung-jan first competed in the Olympics in 2008, partnering with Chuang Chia-jung (莊佳容) but only reached the round of 16. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, the Chan sisters reached the quarterfinals. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, they were eliminated in the first round.
Eyeing the Paris Olympics, Chan Yung-jan hopes to make her final Olympic appearance a memorable one and achieve a breakthrough performance. She expressed her desire to make a perfect ending to her national team career.
