TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of National Defense (國防部, MND) announced Thursday (July 4) that China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) has declared a no-sail zone off the coast of Zhejiang (浙江) and imposed airspace restrictions. The ministry assessed this announcement as part of the East Sea Fleet's (東部戰區海軍) annual live-fire drills.
The ministry stated that the Republic of China Army (ROCA) has deployed a joint intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance system to monitor these exercises, assuring the public of their ability to promptly grasp any developments, including new weapon tests and trial voyages.
According to the China Maritime Safety Administration (中國海事局) website, the Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration (浙江海事局) issued a navigation warning on July 2. This warning detailed 15 coordinates and declared a military mission within these waters from 4 a.m. on July 3 to 6 p.m. on July 5, prohibiting entry.
The MND reiterated that our national army could immediately understand the PLA's regional exercises and new weapon tests. As the situation unfolds, the Ministry of National Defense said it remains vigilant, continuing to monitor and assess the implications of these exercises on regional security.
